Arrival at Olot from Barcelona or Girona airport. Cultural visit through the town where you’ll find important monuments such as the church of Saint Steve, the sanctuary of the Virgin of Tura, the cloister of Carme, not to mention the houses built in a modernist style in the city. We also recommend visiting the Volcano Museum and hiking up the crater of the volcano Montsacopa, which allows you to have an excellent view over the city.
Circular route to explore the beauty this volcanic territory has to offer. Discover the main volcanos in the region, currently inactive, while riding in the leafy forests and The Beech Forest. We offer 3 different possible routes.
We start out the route in Olot through the rail trail “The Railway Route” («Ruta del Carrilet»). After riding slightly uphill towards Coll d’en Bas (620m), we start a very pleasant way downhill from Olot towards Amer through he most emblematic section of the rail trail.
It is advisable to have lunch either in Planes d’Hostoles or Amer. These towns are located halfway between Olot and Girona and they were formerly known by their natural pools. Planes d’Hostoles should be pointed out by its natural pools and Amer by its Porches Plaza (considered to be the second biggest in Catalonia).
We’ll continue the route with a slight downhill until Sant Julià de Llor.
Accommodation in a country cottage located in exceptional surroundings, with friendly environment and including half-board.
Relish the tranquility that the country cottage has to offer and enjoy the route from Sant Julià de Llor to Osor, a town with lots of history.
Start out the route once more through the “Railway” from Sant Julià de Llor to Girona, capital of the province. Once you are in Girona, you can wander through the old town and visit the Jewish quarter, in addition to the most important monuments such as the Cathedral, Sant Feliu and the abbey of Sant Pere de Galligants.
The route from Girona to the sea goes slightly uphill and reaches the highest point in Cassà de la Selva (136m). Through the former train’s trail, you get to know two regions (Gironès and Baix Empordà) from the basin of the river Ter to the Valley of Riudaura, through the hollow of la Selva.
It is advisable to stop and have lunch in Llagostera.
Arrival at Sant Feliu de Guíxols where you’ll find a great harbor and a monastery in the old town.
Stay in a Hotel*** in Sant Feliu de Guíxols (dinner will be served at the restaurant Bahía, which is located right in front of the beach).
In the last day of your route you can enjoy yourself spending the day at the beach or riding the bikes around Sant Feliu de Guíxols, through the path that goes along the coast, called Camí de Ronda.
Time to go back. If you haven’t booked a private transport, you have the option to take a public bus which will take you to Girona. From there you can take a bus either towards Barcelona or towards Girona Airport.
